The coming week will be somewhat cold, with dry spells for many but showers in the north and west. However, the weather will turn milder but more unsettled next weekend, Met Éireann has said.

There are currently two weather warnings active, covering four counties.

The first is a Status Yellow wind warning for Co. Wexford, which came into effect at 2:00a.m this morning (Monday, January 27) and will remain in place until 2:00p.m this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the same warning is also in place for counties Cork, Kerry and Waterford. This warning came into effect at 11:00p.m. last night (Sunday, January 26) and will remain in place until 9:00a.m this morning.

In the counties impacted by the warning, Met Éireann has said that further damage to already weakened structures from Storm Éowyn, and dangerous travelling conditions, are possible.

In general, we will see a blustery start with showery outbreaks of rain today (Monday, January 27). A few dry and bright spells will occur though. Moderate to fresh, south to southeasterly winds, strong in the south and southeast, will ease mostly light to moderate and variable in the afternoon.

Highest temperatures today will be 5° to 10°, coolest in the northwest.

Tonight, showery outbreaks of rain will continue and it will turn quite cold with lowest temperatures of 2° to 6°. Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds will freshen overnight, becoming strong to near-gale in southwestern counties by morning.

Tomorrow (Tuesday, January 28) will bring a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, with longer spells of rain possible in parts.

Highest temperatures will be 6° to 9°, with fresh and gusty northwesterly winds, strong over Munster and west Connacht but decreasing moderate to fresh and westerly later.

Tomorrow night will be dry for a good part of the country, but there will be some scattered showers in the north and west with some wintry falls in the north.

Frost and icy patches are likely with some fog pockets too, with mostly light winds. Lowest temperatures will be -1° to +3°.

Wednesday (January 29) will be a cold bright day with sunny spells. While there will be a lot of dry weather, some scattered showers will affect mainly northern and western fringes, some wintry, with hail or sleet.

Highest temperatures should range from 5° to 8° with moderate north to northwest winds, freshening in the afternoon.

Wednesday night will bring clear spells and scattered showers, these mainly in the west and north with some wintry falls. Lowest temperatures are expected to be -1° to +3° with moderate northwest winds easing light westerly. It will turn frosty, with a few mist or fog patches too.

Thursday (January 30) will be mainly dry with sunny spells. Highest temperatures should be 5° to 9° with light southwest breezes.

It will turn milder for Friday (January 31) and the weekend, but also more unsettled and turning windy, with rain bands moving in from the Atlantic.
